Blue and White. The first time I've ever seen a beach covered in snow!

Sculpted. A curvy drift of snow (we got about 3 inches in the days leading up to Thanksgiving).

Farmland. Snow must have driven the critters into the barn.

Our Street. The view turning out of our driveway.

Cold Mail. Our mailbox weighted down!

Fun in the Snow. The boy loves this weather!

Home Sweet Home. The house is pretty in the snow, but when it's 16 degrees outside, I'm just eager to get inside it!

New Moon. Seagulls snoozing, seemingly unaware of the gorgeousness above them.

Get It? A genius named this place (I haven't been yet).

Moo? A bison on the mainland eats corn stalks and watches me. He is the only male, amidst several dozen females!

'Tisn't the Season. I like the seasonal melancholy here: a sign promising tasty summer offerings reflected in a muddy pool of chilly-looking water.

Land of Coffee. My amazing double espresso con panna, daintily topped with a coffee bean.

Soft. The ever-changing sky and water looking south from the island.

Winter is Here. Clouds reflected in a gravel parking lot puddle on the reservation.

Snowy Predictions. They're saying it's finally going to really snow here this winter!

Family Portrait. Pooches under our bright red fall tree.

Dock at Dusk. Pretty sky waiting for the ferry.

Warm and Cozy. A tree bundled up for the coming winter outside the knitting store in town.

Abstract in Blue. Although you can't see the actual streams of rain on the skylight glass, you can see the silvery reflections.

Mushroom Craziness. We dumped a load of woodchips in this spot last January, and these mushrooms suddenly took over this week! I wish I knew if they were edible...

Dappled Sky. Looking West over Lummi.

Crazy Clouds. Drama over Portage Island.

Moon Over Pastels. I think a wall-sized copy of this photo in a kid's bedroom would be so much fun!

Whatcom Museum. One of my favorite buildings in Bellingham, this once was city hall.

Water Greeting. My boyfriend's uncle swung by our house in his houseboat on a trip to Canada!

Squalicum Harbor. Night falls over the water at the Port of Bellingham

AC. Fun wooden sign in a local coffee shop.

Luck. When we head to the West side of the island to check out the sunset, sometimes we're met with something amazing, sometimes with something tame (but still pretty).

Ross Lake: Part 2.

Black and White. Boats in a row in the early morning.

Peek-A-Boo. Mountains poking through morning fog.

Our Heat Supply! Each cabin has its own woodpile and hatchet.

Ross Lake. We explored by boat for most of our second day at the resort.

Billy Goats Gruff. Boating under the bridge into "Devil's Creek."

Bluebeard. Devil's Creek was freezing and damp, with strange grey-blue water and dripping rocks on either side. Very creepy and cool.

Back Into the Sun. Looking south across the water.

Waterfall. Feeding the lake.

Goodbye. A royal purple morning sent us on our way.

Crooked Lookout. After leaving the lake, we drove East for a little exploring, and stopped at this spectacular viewpoint.

Spiral Wood. I love the patterned trunks of these dead pines.

Winthrop. We had lunch at "Jack's Saloon" in Winthrop, a hunting town with a humorous Wild West theme.

We Both Use It!! An old-fashioned ad painted on the side of the restaurant cracked me up.

Hunting Humor. A great retirement gift, perhaps!

Heading Home. Beautiful Washington.
