No Snow Here. Spring has arrived on the island, and the whole world is in bloom!

Heron This Rock. A heron contemplates his quickly disappearing perch as the tide comes in.

My Dream House. A sweet, cozy one-room cabin at the inn on the island.

Seal Rock. Taken from the island's west side, looking north at the Canadian mountains.

Monet Sunrise. A bit fuzzy, but I was sleepy when I took this at 6:05 AM!

Sneak Peak. A heron gives me a sideways glance from his hiding place between the rocks.

Purple Cotton Candy. A blossoming plum tree next door.

Pile Driver. After fixing the ferry dock, a pile driver heads south past our house on a beautiful day.

Waves. A close-up of our pebbly beach, with water rushing in.

The Beach School. The island grade school houses 3 teachers and about 50 students.

Odd Sign. A funny, random sign, seen in a parking lot behind an Indian restaurant.

On the Reservation. Our neighborhood casino (with attached hotel and spa to the left). The steakhouse here is pricey and delicious.

Cuddling. In these cold, rainy winter days, we have relented and allowed the pooches use of the sofa. We have no place to sit....

End of the Road. The semi-public boat dock on the south side of the island.

Like Night and Day. The setting sun shines on northern Portage, keeping southern Portage in the shadows.

RIP. A neighbor's ex-bench lies in repose.

Island Flair. Bamboo planted by a neighbor next to our property line flourishes in this climate.

Fuzzy. A swampy field of dead grass and huge pussy willows.

Only 26? The reassuring message on the bench inside the ferry's passenger cabin.

Best Road Sign Ever. "In case water comes to life in the form of a mama wave and three baby waves and tries to get you, bend one knee and fly like Superman up the side of the cliff face." This sign can be seen all over the reservation.

Walk This Way. A wee hobbit-like bridge, built over our stream.

This Way. Watching the island retreat into the distance from the back of the ferry.

Freighter. A big boat has a beautiful journey down the island's west side.

Wild Wabbit Woad. I personally love the addition of the cigar.

Oops. After a big wind storm, a long stretch of chain link fence protecting this road from the water washed away, along with one lane of the two-lane road!

Crab Boat. Pulling up crab pots in front of our house.

North Curve. The northern part of the island--you can see the Canadian mountains in the background.

Woods Coffee. One of many delicious coffee shops in this part of the world.
