Steller's Jay. The big western version of the Blue Jay--beautiful blue plumage.

Sinister. An eerie photo of a bird of prey... but it's metal!

Walk this Way. A beautiful path of daffodils leading up to an old, run-down Victorian-style house on the island, affectionately referred to as The Rat Palace.

Beneath the Trees. Daffodils are blooming all over the island now!

Purple and Dew. A sweet, inch-tall flower, with early morning dew.

Kayaking. Two paddlers head from our beach out to Portage Island.

Spring Day. Another beautiful day on the island.

Blue Hole. Clouds clearing over the island.

Gas Dock. Boats have to fill up, too!

Ferry Bumpers. That's what I call them anyway--the north side of the ferry dock.

A Boy and His Fish. This fountain outside the library was first installed in an island park in the 1920s.

Bumper Sticker. Lots of vehicles around here sport the LI sticker.

Baldy. Not the best photo, but I'm still in awe when I see a bald eagle here.

Napping and Fuzzy. A deer takes a break in my boyfriend's parents' back yard!

Tasty Treat. A seagull jealously guards his starfish find behind pilings.

Brilliance. The coolest vending machine ever--and the cotton candy is delicious!

Floating Store. Salmon for sale!

Island Trail. I finally hiked all the way to the top! 1.5 hours up, a 1000-ft climb.

Light as a Feather. Delicate moss balances on a twig, living off of air and not much else.

View from the Top. Looking west, from the highest point on the island.

Tug. A tug boat passes in front of our house heading north.

Waking Up. Pink, purple, blue, beautiful.

The White Way of Delight. These tree blossoms smell incredible.

Big Red Barn. This pretty building is actually an art studio, with a sculpture garden peeking out from the background.

Woven Fence. An unusual barrier between a yard with blossoming trees and the road.

Surveying. A seagull perches on a stump on the mainland, looking out over the island.

Beach Glass. Pieces of glass somehow end up in the ocean and are buffed smooth by the waves crashing them over the beach again and again.

Bzzzz. Bees wake up to gorge during the early spring.

Golden Silhouette. Sunrise through the fog illuminates the treetops south of our house.

Totem. A toothy totem on the Lummi Reservation.

Wild Eyed. I discovered my camera has a "Kids and Pets" setting, with fantastically clear results!

Just Resting. A statue downtown that caught my eye mainly because I love how the missing bench arms contribute to the effortlessness of his pose.

Glowing. I am becoming obsessed with the beauty of the fog in the northwest.

2010. I saw my first electric vehicle charging station in the grocery store parking lot the other day (if you are chuckling at this, remember I live on an island with a population well under 1,000!).

Puppy Paradise. The view from an off-leash dog area near a river in town: a barn, clouds, and snow-topped mountains on the horizon.
